“The Tafseer of Surah Al Baqara Verses 2:44-45”
أَتَأْمُرُونَ النَّاسَ بِالْبِرِّ وَتَنْسَوْنَ أَنْفُسَكُمْ وَأَنْتُمْ تَتْلُونَ الْكِتَابَ ۚ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ {44}
What! do you enjoin men to be good… and neglect your own souls… while you read the Book…have you then no sense? Surah Baqarah 2:44
The Tafseer of Surah Baqarah by Imam Hasan Askari (a.s.). This excerpt emphasizes the significance of the Quran, particularly Surah Baqarah and Surah Aale Imran, in the lives of believers.
The passage highlights several key points:
- Importance of Learning the Quran: The Holy Prophet (S) encourages believers to learn the Quran as it is a source of divine teachings that brings dignity and honor in both this life and the Hereafter.
- Surah Baqarah and Surah Aale Imran: These two Surahs are specifically mentioned as being particularly beneficial. The act of learning them is said to be rewarding, while neglecting them leads to sorrow.
- Protection from Sorcery: It is noted that sorcerers and magicians cannot acquire the knowledge contained in these Surahs, suggesting a protective quality associated with their recitation.
- Advocacy on Judgment Day: The Surahs are described as interceding for their reciters on Judgment Day, presenting a powerful image of their significance and the relationship between the believer and the Quran.
- Friendship with Ali (a.s.): The text also touches on the importance of recognizing and supporting the virtues of Ali (a.s.), indicating that true belief involves loyalty to him and opposition to his enemies.
- Assertion of Messengership: The Prophet firmly denies the accusations made against him, emphasizing the legitimacy of his claims and the divine authority behind his mission.
- Call for Accountability: The Prophet invokes Allah’s permission to summon the properties that have been unjustly taken from the weak and oppressed. This illustrates the theme of accountability and justice, where the oppressors will face the consequences of their actions.
- Divine Intervention: The immediate response from the angels, bringing forth the wealth and account books, signifies divine support for the Prophet’s mission and the importance of justice in society.
The Holy Prophet (S) made sure to return stolen wealth to the rightful owners and encouraged those who were cheated to claim their rights back. The Jewish chiefs faced disgrace because of their actions, while some leaders refused to accept the truth.
Others found salvation through Allah. Leaders who wanted to convert came to the Prophet, recognizing him as a great Prophet. They expressed remorse for their past deeds and asked how to repent. The Prophet assured them that true repentance would lead to friendship in Paradise and brotherhood here on Earth. He promised them wealth and that their shame would be forgotten by people.
The leaders openly accepted faith in Allah and acknowledged the Prophet Muhammad (S) as His messenger, recognizing Ali (a.s.) as the Prophet’s brother and helper. They compared their bond to that of Harun and Musa (a.s.), noting that Muhammad is the last messenger.
وَاسْتَعِينُوا بِالصَّبْرِ وَالصَّلَاةِ وَإِنَّهَا لَكَبِيرَةٌ إِلَّا عَلَى الْخَاشِعِينَ
And seek assistance through patience and prayer…and most surely it is…hard thing…except for the humble ones… Surah Baqarah 2:45
You should seek assistance through patience and prayer, using these methods to fulfill trusts, avoid unlawful actions, and openly declare your belief in the prophethood of Muhammad (S) and the leadership of Ali (a.s.). It’s essential to support both of them and help those they guide you to assist.
By following this path, you will gain the immense blessings of Allah’s pleasure, forgiveness, the rewards of Paradise, and the company of revered figures, including all the Imams (a.s.) from the Ahlul Bayt (the descendants of Muhammad and Ali). The joy of being in their presence will surpass all other delights in Paradise. Adhering to this guidance will ensure your happiness and proper direction. Furthermore, maintaining your five daily prayers and sending Durood upon Muhammad and his family will help you draw closer to Paradise.
Conclusion
In conclusion, embracing the teachings of Quran Majeed with Syeda Naqvi encourage individuals to cultivate patience and engage in prayer as essential practices for spiritual growth.
By affirming faith in the Prophethood of Hazrat Muhammad (S) and the leadership of Hazrat Ali (a.s.), believers can find guidance and support in their journey towards righteousness. This commitment not only leads to personal fulfillment but also strengthens the connection with the Ahlul Bayt, ultimately paving the way to attain the blessings of Paradise.
